Michigan Segment 1 Knowledge Test (under 18)

This Roadwise course uses a 80-question practice test with 56 correct answers needed to pass. The format can depend on your age, license class, or application type.

Most Michigan permit applicants are teens, so the confirmed Segment 1 format is used. Adults (18+) instead take the SOS 'KnowTo Drive' test with two separately passed parts, 'Operator' (~45 min) and 'Signs' (~15 min) (michigan.gov/sos/license-id/new-drivers-18-older; online since July 2, 2025); SOS does not publish their question counts or pass marks. Verified 2026-10-25.
