Wisconsin DMV Written Tests (Highway Signs Test + Knowledge Test)

This Roadwise course uses a 65-question practice test with 52 correct answers needed to pass. Separately scored parts also have their own passing thresholds. The format can depend on your age, license class, or application type.

Wisconsin actually gives two separately-scored written tests before the skills test: a 15-question Highway Signs Test (12 correct, 80%, no appointment) and a 50-question Knowledge Test (40 correct, 80%, about 45 minutes, no appointment). Both must be passed to get an instruction permit. The 45-minute time limit applies to the Knowledge Test portion; the Signs Test has no stated time limit. Numbers are combined here into one practice test with separately scored sections, since each is scored separately per the handbook.
