The format in this course
Wisconsin DMV Written Tests (Highway Signs Test + Knowledge Test)
To pass this Roadwise simulation, answer at least 52 of 65 questions correctly and meet each scored section’s threshold. Answers and explanations appear after you finish. Unanswered questions count as incorrect.
| Section | Questions | Correct needed |
|---|---|---|
| Highway Signs Test | 15 | 12 |
| Knowledge Test | 50 | 40 |
The practice simulation uses a 45-minute countdown. The test clock continues while you are away from the session.
Wisconsin actually gives two separately-scored written tests before the skills test: a 15-question Highway Signs Test (12 correct, 80%, no appointment) and a 50-question Knowledge Test (40 correct, 80%, about 45 minutes, no appointment). Both must be passed to get an instruction permit. The 45-minute time limit applies to the Knowledge Test portion; the Signs Test has no stated time limit. Numbers are combined here into one practice test with separately scored sections, since each is scored separately per the handbook.
