A 3-minute lesson from the Wisconsin course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
The Knowledge Test covers traffic laws, the same rules taught in these lessons. The Skills Test is the road test: a DMV examiner rides with you and gives directions while you show you can control the car.
Also called the road test or driving test: a real demonstration of your ability to exercise ordinary and reasonable control of your vehicle, with a DMV examiner.
Before the test, the examiner checks that your car is safe: horn, lights/signals, license plates, doors, mirrors and more. Know how to use every control you may need, such as headlights, wipers and defrost.
The examiner says, “At the next intersection, turn left,” then later, “Make a Y-turn.” Follow each instruction calmly, checking mirrors and signaling as you would on any drive.
