A 2-minute lesson from the Maryland course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Guide signs help you find your way: which lane goes where, what route you're on, where you are on an interstate, and what services wait at the next exit.
Overhead lane use signs
Signs above the road that give destinations, directions, and how to use the lanes.
Signs located every mile on interstate highways. They give your location, which you can use if you need someone like a tow truck or emergency personnel to find you.
Your car breaks down on an interstate. Look for the nearest green mile marker and tell the 911 operator or tow company that number so they can find you.
