A 3-minute lesson from the Utah course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Your driving record follows you across state lines. Utah belongs to two agreements that let states share convictions and enforce each other's tickets, so a violation in another member state can cost you your Utah privilege.
Driver License Compact (DLC)
An agreement for cooperation on driver license matters. Members exchange driver records and forward traffic convictions to the driver's home state.
Under the NRVC, the driver's home state suspends the privilege to drive until it receives proof the driver complied with the citation in the other state.
A Utah driver gets a speeding ticket in Colorado and ignores it. Colorado notifies Utah through the NRVC, and Utah suspends the license until the driver shows proof the Colorado citation was taken care of.
