Warning signs tell you about hazards or changes ahead. They're posted before the condition, so you have time to see it, decide and slow down or change your path. Most are yellow diamonds with black symbols or words.
Know the rule
Warning signs are usually diamond-shaped with black symbols or words on a yellow background.
Chevron signs mark a sharp change in direction; the road bends the way the chevrons point. In a curve there will be an advance curve warning sign, and chevrons may be placed throughout.
ROAD ENTERING CURVE: the main road curves with a side road entering. Approach with extra caution; a driver pulling out may not see you coming around the curve.
An advisory speed plate may be used with any diamond warning sign. With a sharp left curve sign, a 25 M.P.H. plate means the highest speed you should travel around that curve is 25 mph.
You're driving 45 mph and pass a sharp left turn sign with a 25 M.P.H. plate. Slow to 25 mph or less before the turn, stay in the center of your lane, and take the turn at that speed.
