Lines and symbols on the road divide lanes, tell you when you may pass or change lanes, show which lanes turn, mark pedestrian walkways and show where to stop. Color tells direction: white separates same-direction traffic, yellow separates opposite directions.

Know the rule

Solid lines along the side of the road show where the edge of the road is.
