Driving test maneuvers: parking & three-point turn
A 2-minute lesson from the Maryland course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Maryland's skills test checks how well you judge space and control your car at low speed. Parallel parking is no longer tested, but its skills still appear through other maneuvers.
Know the rule
Parallel parking is no longer required on the driving test, but you'll learn it in the MVA driving education course.
These maneuvers show how well you judge space, use mirrors and turn signals, steer, brake and control acceleration, and test your visual, backing and general driving skills.
A friend says you must practice parallel parking for the Maryland test. Not anymore. Spend your time on pull-in and back-in parking in a 10' by 20' space and a three-point turn in 16' by 20'.
