Warning signs tell you about possible danger ahead so you can slow down or prepare to stop. You'll recognize most of them by their shape and color before you can read them, which is exactly what the knowledge test checks.

Know the rule

Warning signs are usually yellow with black lettering or symbols and diamond shaped. Some, such as school zone, school crossing and pedestrian crossing signs, may be fluorescent yellow.

Know the rule

Warning signs tell you of possible danger ahead: to slow down and be prepared to stop, or of a hazard or special situation on the roadway.

Handbook p. 35 ↗

Put it into practice

You see a yellow diamond showing a car with wavy skid marks: Slippery When Wet. It's warning you of a possible hazard, so slow down, especially when rain is just starting and the road is slickest.
