A 3-minute lesson from the Utah course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
New drivers face extra limits. A 16-year-old with a license can't drive between midnight and 5 a.m., and 16- and 17-year-olds may carry only immediate family for the first six months. Permit holders must always have a qualified adult in the front seat.
Permit holders aged 15, 16, and 17: the front seat passenger must be a parent, guardian, driving instructor, or licensed adult 21 or over with evidence of authorization from a parent or legal guardian.
You're 16 and licensed for two months. Driving home from your job at 12:30 a.m. is allowed, because work is a nighttime exception. Giving a friend a ride home is not, because work is not a passenger exception and your six months aren't up.
