A learner permit lets you take driver education and practice with a qualified adult beside you. Utah has an entry-level permit you can get at 15 and a 6-month renewal permit. How long you must hold a permit depends on your age.

To get an entry-level learner permit:

  • Schedule a learner permit appointment at dld.utah.gov
  • Provide the required documents
  • Pay the fee
  • Pass the written knowledge test
  • Pass an eye test
