Toll roads and turning
A 3-minute lesson from the New Hampshire course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Highways go by many names: expressways, turnpikes, throughways, freeways. Some NH highways are toll roads, paid in cash or with E-ZPass. Every turn follows the same pattern: search, signal, position, look through the turn, then accelerate smoothly.
E-ZPass
Electronic toll collection that lets you drive through designated lanes without stopping to pay cash. Get a transponder through the NH Department of Transportation.
You're one of two lanes turning left together. You chose the inside lane, so stay in it all the way through the turn; drifting into the outer lane mid-turn could hit the car beside you.
Check your understanding
Read the question, decide on an answer, then open it to check the explanation. These are Roadwise study questions based on the source handbook.
