Warning signs are yellow with black lettering or symbols, and usually diamond-shaped. They tell you to slow down and be prepared to stop, because a hazard or special situation is ahead.
Curve and turn signs may carry an advisory speed plate showing the recommended speed. You may feel comfortable faster in fair weather, but never exceed it in rain, snow or ice.
On a rainy night you see a yellow Curve sign with a 35 MPH advisory plate on a road posted at 55. Slow to 35 or less: you should never exceed the advisory speed in rain, snow or ice.
