A 4-minute lesson from the Missouri course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Missouri issues different license classes depending on what you drive. Most drivers need a Class F. Driving for pay, riding a motorcycle or driving a commercial motor vehicle calls for another class or an endorsement.
Under 21, your license identifies you as a minor. At 21 you may apply and pay for a license without the minor indication, or wait until your under-21 license expires.
A Class F license doesn't let you drive a motorcycle unless it shows the Motorcycle (M) endorsement. For a Class F you pass the written, vision, road sign and driving tests.
The Class E written test covers the whole guide but mainly Chapter 15 (Commercial Vehicles). You also pass vision and road sign tests. If you already have a Class F, no driving test is required.
Class M applicants pass the Class F and Class M written, vision, road sign and motorcycle skills tests. GDL requirements apply to Class M applicants ages 16 to 18.
A nondriver ID (Class ND) expires on your birth date in the sixth year after you apply. At 70 or older it's non-expiring, unless you apply for a REAL ID-compliant card (may get six years) or immigration status limits it.
You're 18, hold a Class F, and take a paid job delivering flowers. You need a Class E. Because you already have a Class F, you take only the written test (mainly Chapter 15), vision and road sign tests—no driving test.
