A 4-minute lesson from the Mississippi course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Before an original Mississippi license is issued, you prove three things: you see well enough, you know the rules, and you've practiced. The Computerized Exam is built from this handbook, so its definitions matter.
Three requirements before an original license:
Pass the Vision Exam
Pass the Computerized Exam
Provide the affidavit from a parent, teacher or guardian certifying 50+ hours of witnessed driving
The Computerized Exam is based on this manual and focuses especially on Mississippi traffic laws, safe driving rules and driver's license requirements.
An automobile, motorcycle or other vehicle run by its own engine or motor, except vehicles on rails, electric bicycles, golf carts and low-speed vehicles.
Your eye test suggests you may need glasses. You're given form DE26 to take to an eye specialist or optometrist, who fills it out. If you then pass using glasses, your license will be restricted accordingly.
Check your understanding
Read the question, decide on an answer, then open it to check the explanation. These are Roadwise study questions based on the source handbook.
Besides the Vision Exam and Computerized Exam, what third item must you provide before an original license is issued?
A letter from your county tax collector
A certified copy of your high school transcript
A notarized statement from your employer
An affidavit certifying at least fifty hours of witnessed driving
Answer: An affidavit certifying at least fifty hours of witnessed driving
The exam process requires the Vision Exam, the Computerized Exam, and the fifty-hour witnessed-driving affidavit.
