A 3-minute lesson from the Mississippi course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
The Regular Learner's Permit is your first step. You pass the same Computerized Exam as for a full license, then practice with an experienced adult beside you for a year before you can upgrade.
Know the rule
To be eligible for a Regular Learner's Permit, you must pass the same Computerized Exam required for a Regular Driver's License.
Submit the 50-hour driving affidavit before two years have passed and you don't retake the Computerized Exam. Wait longer than two years and you must retake it. You'll also need to submit a School Attendance Affidavit.
You get your permit on your 15th birthday. Your 19-year-old licensed cousin offers to ride along. Not allowed: your supervisor must be a licensed driver 21 or older in the seat next to you. Your licensed 42-year-old mom in the front passenger seat is fine.
Check your understanding
Read the question, decide on an answer, then open it to check the explanation. These are Roadwise study questions based on the source handbook.
