A 2-minute lesson from the Georgia course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Before your first license, you must pass a vision screening at a DDS Customer Service Center. Georgia checks how sharply you see and how wide your side vision is. If you need glasses or contacts to pass, your license will say so.
20/60
Minimum vision in one eye, with or without corrective lenses (non-commercial license)
If you can't pass the screening at the Customer Service Center, you get a Vision Report Form (DS-274). A licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist completes it, and you submit it to DDS.
At every transaction you must say whether you need glasses or contacts to drive. If your answer differs from DDS records, you may need a new screening or a current DS-274.
You can only read the eye chart with your glasses on. You pass wearing them, so your license is issued with the corrective lenses restriction (code B, corrective lenses required).
