Responsible adults, revocation and teens moving to Georgia
A 3-minute lesson from the Georgia course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Every applicant under 18 needs a responsible adult to vouch for them, and that adult keeps the power to revoke the license until the teen turns 18. Teens moving from other states follow special transfer rules.
Responsible adult
A person 18 or older who is competent to verify the application and has personal knowledge of the applicant.
The parent, guardian or responsible adult who signed a minor's application may request revocation of the permit or license at any time before the minor's 18th birthday.
A teen with a valid out-of-state license or permit will normally get a comparable Georgia license, but the other state's teen requirements may differ from Georgia's.
Any 17-year-old with proof of military enlistment is exempt from holding the permit for one year and one day, and gets a Class C license after passing the road test.
Your mom signed your Class D application. Months later she decides you aren't ready. Before you turn 18, she can file the notarized DDS form, pay the $10 fee, and have your license revoked.
