A 2-minute lesson from the Arkansas course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Arkansas takes seat belts seriously. An officer can pull you over for being unbuckled alone, and young children need the right restraint every time the car moves.
Buckle Up — It's the Law
Know the rule
It is illegal to drive, or to ride as a front-seat passenger, without wearing a safety belt.
Child Passenger Protection Act: a child under 6 years old AND under 60 pounds must ride in a child passenger safety seat properly secured to the vehicle.
You're driving your 5-year-old niece, who weighs 45 pounds, and her 12-year-old brother. She must ride in a properly secured child safety seat; he must wear a safety restraint. And no one may smoke in the car, since both are under 14.
