A 3-minute lesson from the Arkansas course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
A stopped school bus with red lights flashing means children may be crossing. In most cases every lane in both directions must stop, and passing a bus can bring a felony charge.
Know the rule
When approaching a stopped school bus with red lights flashing, make a complete stop until the lights are turned off, whether you're behind it, in the opposing lane, or at an intersection.
You're on a four-lane road with no median. A school bus heading the other way stops and flashes red lights. You must stop too, because only a median of 20 feet or more lets opposing traffic keep moving.
Check your understanding
Read the question, decide on an answer, then open it to check the explanation. These are Roadwise study questions based on the source handbook.
