DUI penalties and suspensions
A 3-minute lesson from the Oklahoma course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
A DUI conviction brings jail AND a fine, plus a license suspension from Service Oklahoma. A second offense within 10 years is a felony. The costs don't stop at the courtroom, and the conviction stays on your driving record.
Know the rule
If your BAC is 0.08 or more, any measurable amount for drivers under 21, or the officer's observations of your behavior, appearance and mannerisms lead to a DUI conviction, the penalties are imprisonment AND a fine.
The consequences of arrest and conviction remain on your driving record. Being arrested for driving or riding a motorcycle under the influence can affect you for the rest of your life.
A driver convicted of DUI in 2020 is convicted again in 2026. Six years is within 10 years, so the second offense is a felony: 1 to 5 years and a fine up to $2,500, plus a 1-year license suspension.
