Mississippi driving lesson · Parking, Night Driving & Seat Belts
Seat belts & child restraints
A 2-minute lesson from the Mississippi course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Buckle up: it's the law. In Mississippi everyone in the vehicle must wear a seat belt, front seat or back, and young children need the right car seat or booster seat.
Know the rule
Drivers and all passengers must wear a properly fastened seat belt, whether in the front or back seat, whenever a passenger vehicle moves forward on a public road, street or highway.
You're driving your 6-year-old nephew, who is 4 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 50 pounds. He's between 4 and 7 and under 4 feet 9 inches, so the law requires a belt-positioning booster seat, and he should ride in the backseat.
Check your understanding
