Slow Vehicles, Oversize Loads and Funerals
A 3-minute lesson from the Oregon course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Some vehicles follow special rules: farm equipment moving slowly, vehicles carrying loads that stick out, and funeral processions. Recognize the markings, give them room, and know what they're allowed to do that you aren't.
Slow moving vehicle emblem
A sign with a reflective red border and a fluorescent orange center. Slow moving vehicles, such as farm equipment, must show it on a public highway.
Funeral processions are exempt from certain rules: vehicles in the procession may enter an intersection without stopping and don't have to obey traffic control devices.
Other vehicles must yield the right of way to a funeral procession. It's against the law to join the procession or drive between its vehicles if you aren't part of it.
Your green light comes on, but a funeral procession is still moving through the intersection against its red. Wait: you must yield to the procession, and you may not cut between its cars.
Check your understanding
