Driving needs your full attention. Your health, fatigue and emotions like anger or worry all affect how well you drive. If you catch yourself just going through the motions, stop to rest or quit for the day. Phones are the biggest distraction, and Oregon's rules depend on your age.

Put it into practice

You're 17 and your phone buzzes with a text while you're driving. Drivers under 18 may not use a phone at all while operating a vehicle. Ignore it until you've stopped in a safe parking area — better yet, turn it off and put it in the back seat before you go.
