Your license is legal permission to drive in Oklahoma, across the U.S. and in many places worldwide, but you don't own it. It belongs to the State of Oklahoma and can be denied, canceled, suspended or revoked if you don't obey Oklahoma law. Keeping it valid means renewing on time and keeping your name and address current.
Know the rule
If your license is lost, destroyed or too damaged to read, contact a licensed operator or your local driver examiner, or apply online for a replacement. Only a valid Oklahoma license can be replaced.
Handbook p. 13 ↗How long a license can be issued for, counted from the month you paid the fee; it expires on the last day of the month
Handbook p. 13 ↗How far ahead of the expiration date you can renew

You can renew online. Military personnel stationed outside Oklahoma don't have to renew until 60 days after they return to Oklahoma, but may renew by mail if they wish.
Handbook p. 13 ↗Know the rule
If your license has been expired over 1 year, you must visit a Service Oklahoma location, or a licensed operator approved to accept a certified birth certificate or U.S. passport.
Handbook p. 13 ↗Know the rule
Non-citizens go to a Service Oklahoma Driver License Examiner for an original, renewal or replacement license, show all immigration documents each time, and get a license that expires with those documents. Legal permanent residents may renew or replace at any SOK location or licensed operator with a valid permanent resident card.

Handbook p. 13 ↗Know the rule
Until you are 18 your license is probationary (a trial period). Service Oklahoma may cancel or suspend it for any unlawful act, negligence or misconduct while driving.
Handbook p. 13 ↗Unauthorized driving: it is illegal to
- Drive without a license
- Drive without a license or Learner Permit even with a licensed driver along (both of you can be arrested)
- As a parent, allow your child to drive without a Learner Permit or driver license
- Let another person drive your vehicle, or one you're responsible for, without a valid license
Penalty on conviction for driving without a valid license: fine up to $500, up to 6 months in jail, or both
Handbook p. 14 ↗Put it into practice
You move across town on June 3. You have until June 13 to notify Service Oklahoma of your new address, online, at a licensed operator or by mail. If you skip it, a suspension notice could go to your old address and you'd never see it.
