A 3-minute lesson from the Ohio course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
After your first year, the curfew shrinks and the passenger limit ends, but the belt and phone rules stay until 18. Separately, every driver must track their license's expiration — Ohio gives no grace period.
The same curfew exceptions apply: a parent or guardian with you, work (Form BMV 2825), or official school-sponsored or religious events (Form BMV 2826).
You're 17 and driving home from a movie at 12:30 a.m., a year and a half after getting your license. That's legal — after 12 months the curfew is 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. At 1:15 a.m. you'd need an exception.
Check your understanding
