If you're under 18, you move through a graduated licensing program. After the permit comes a provisional license: you may drive alone, but with limits on late-night driving and on young passengers while you gain experience.

Graduated licensing program

The program drivers under 18 must complete to reach a Class 3 license, letting you develop driving skills over time as you gain experience and maturity.

Put it into practice

You're 16 with a provisional license and your shift ends at 11:30 p.m. You may drive yourself home from work. But if two friends under 18 want a ride home from a party at midnight, you can't take them unless your parent or guardian is in the car.
