A 3-minute lesson from the Florida course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
A Florida ID card proves who you are but doesn't let you drive. This lesson also covers the designations that must or may appear on a card, and the registration duties some offenders have.
To get an ID card you must:
Be 5 years of age or older (any age if you are applying for a disabled parking permit)
Present the required ID, proof of Social Security number and proof of address
You can get a free ID card if you are homeless (bring a current letter from a local homeless shelter) or at or below the poverty level (bring last year's tax return at 100% of the federal poverty level, or proof of ACCESS enrollment).
Male US citizens and immigrants aged at least 18 but under 26 must comply with Selective Service requirements when they apply for or renew any license or ID card.
Sexual offenders' cards show "943.0435 F.S." and sexual predators' cards show "SEXUAL PREDATOR". They may not use a PO box in place of a physical address.
You're 30, have a driver license, and want a Florida ID card as well. You can't have both. You would have to surrender your driver license to get the ID card.
