New Hampshire driving lesson · License Types and Rules
Renewal and out-of-state licenses
A 3-minute lesson from the New Hampshire course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Once licensed, keeping your license current is your job, not the DMV's. This lesson covers when NH licenses expire, how renewal works, and what a driver moving in with an out-of-state license must do.
Know the rule
If you move to NH with a valid out-of-state license, only a vision test is required.
Armed forces members who were NH residents holding a valid NH license when inducted, called to active duty, or enlisted for 2 or more years may renew at no cost.
You moved and never told the DMV your new address. Your license expires next month and no reminder came. That's expected; renewal is still on you, so go to any DMV (or renew online if eligible) before your birthday.
Check your understanding
Read the question, decide on an answer, then open it to check the explanation. These are Roadwise study questions based on the source handbook.
