Colorado driving lesson · Getting Your Colorado License
Who needs a license & getting your permit
A 3-minute lesson from the Colorado course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Colorado licensing starts with the written knowledge test. Pass it and you can get an instruction permit, which lets you practice driving with an experienced licensed adult beside you.
The written test covers this whole handbook: road signs, driving under the influence, driving rules, safety rules and legal items.
Know the rule
Anyone who operates a motor vehicle, motor-driven cycle or moped on Colorado's public streets and highways must be 16 or older and have a valid driver license.
You're 16, just passed the written test, and your 19-year-old licensed cousin offers to ride along. Not allowed: your supervisor must be 21 or older, hold a valid Colorado license and sit in the front passenger seat.
Check your understanding
Read the question, decide on an answer, then open it to check the explanation. These are Roadwise study questions based on the source handbook.
