A 3-minute lesson from the Arizona course. Read the rules and examples, follow the handbook page references, and check your understanding before you move on.
Buckle Up Arizona! A lap and shoulder belt greatly reduces your chance of serious injury in a crash. As the driver you are responsible for young passengers, and Arizona has specific rules for children's car seats and air bags.
Know the rule
Each front seat occupant must wear the lap and shoulder belt properly adjusted and fastened while the vehicle moves — or the lap belt, if that is all that's installed.
Air bags are unsafe for children under 12. If a child must ride in front, turn the passenger-side air bag off (most newer vehicles have an on/off switch).
You're driving your 7-year-old niece, who is 4 feet 6 inches tall. She must ride in a child restraint system, not just a seat belt, because she hasn't reached 4 feet 9 inches.
